THEORY OF CHANGE

In order to alter the entire campus climate for students, universities need to intentionally ponder how policies and practices craft large scale shifts in the ways students and members of the campus community experience religious, secular, and spiritual identities on campus.  Convergence’s  goal is simple: create a campus climate that is more supportive of all forms of religious, secular, and spiritual worldviews.  Here’s how we plan to do it.

1

Survey campuses

- institutional partners who are prepared to lead this effort
- university alignment of resources & units that are supportive
- use the four pillar approach to identify current policies and practices
2

Build Awareness

- offer training and consultation to professionals regarding the work and important of this area of work
- offer consultation and strategic planning with professionals
3

Empower Leadership

- empower professionals to lead efforts on their campuses that provide a more inclusive environment
- help in idea creation for professionals
4

Encourage Collaboration

- offer long term support as professionals deepen awareness and experience in adapting and implementing policy and practice shifts.
- empower improved understanding of professionals (religious, higher education) in goals and “lenses”
5

Transform Campus Climates

- create more trust amongst students, staff, and the entire community
- empower questions, inquiry, and reflective listening
- help all students become aware of their ability to express their religious, secular, and spiritual beliefs
